Lace fragment, bobbin lace, Binche lace, 18th century. Background mesh with large rounded meshes; edges of motifs not contoured. Large narrow laces sewn on at the bottom edge — the wider one with a motif of flower branches arranged in a twig, the narrower with a motif of a flower tendril. From Binche; width 12 cm, length 61 cm., A long strip of lace with an intricate openwork pattern displayed against a smooth background, showing a repeating floral and curvilinear design and a scalloped lower edge; the lace appears off-white or cream with subtle shading from the weave, and the background is a muted gray.
