Geometric and floral ornaments with geometrized twigs and leaves; several larger motifs along one edge in the form of stylized flower bushes. Corner features the silhouette of a double-headed eagle. Between the paths, next to geometrical flower tendrils of various types, is a double Holbein stitch ornament. 17th century, Silesia. Embroidery on fabric; height 81.5 cm, width 23 cm., A long rectangular piece of fabric laid flat showing a dense array of horizontal embroidered bands and motifs. The fabric is a light beige or off-white and the embroidery is primarily a dark blue, with a small area of red stitching near one edge. On one side there are several narrow borders with repeating geometric and floral motifs, while the central area contains rows of varied ornamental patterns including stylized flowers, vines, and abstract shapes worked in the dark blue thread. Toward the opposite edge the designs become more open with larger floral and tree-like motifs arranged vertically, separated by a thin embroidered line. The textile edges are visible and slightly uneven, and the background behind the fabric appears dark.
