Lace fragment, As a background for the floral point clair ornament, the preserved fragment is a section of a straight strip. The edge is a narrow strip with a leaf motif. Above, a floral tendril composed by repeating a bouquet, with a carnation cornflower? in the center. Next to the tendril are small dots in a regular pattern. Mid-19th century, France. Lace, width 10.5 cm, length 162 cm., A horizontal band of delicate lace in pale cream is shown against a flat gray background, featuring a repeating floral design with a few larger stylized blossoms and several smaller flower clusters connected by looping stems and tiny circular motifs; the lace ground is made of a hexagonal open mesh with a scalloped cream edging along the top and a straight finished cream edge along the bottom, and the overall palette includes cream and gray.
