Lower edge serrated to match motifs; upper edge straight with a bobbin insert. 1st half of the 19th century, France, lace, width 15 cm, length 298 cm., A length of delicate lace displayed horizontally against a solid background, featuring an off-white or cream floral embroidery on a fine netting; the lace shows a scalloped lower edge with ornate rounded motifs and clustered floral shapes, leafy stems, and vine-like scrolls rising into a banded top edge with a narrow decorative trim; the netting background appears slightly darker than the embroidery, creating contrast between the cream lace and a muted gray backdrop.
