Lace fragment, plant ornaments, Louis XVI style, Malines Mechelen lace. At the lower edge there are two trails of fine tendrils, and between them a net with issgrond, mesh. Above, a net with drochelle mesh, on it projections of leafy branches. Contours of motifs reinforced with thread. Late 18th century. Lace; width 7.5 cm, length 146 cm., A horizontal strip of delicate lace in off-white sits against a smooth gray background, featuring a fine hexagonal mesh with a scalloped floral border along one edge and a repeating motif of small floral-like embroidered shapes spaced above the border, showing tiny loops and raised thread details and a slight darker discoloration on the lower edge; visible colors are off-white, gray, and a small patch of tan.
