Lace fragment, lace; Edge ornament on one side — a kind of net with numerous loops, small round and slightly larger oval ones, into which small twigs are woven. Above the edge ornament, against the netting background, in regular projections alternate: a twig and a round point. 18th–19th century, France. Materials: lace, fabric. Width 8.5 cm, length 408 cm., A strip of delicate lace in off-white laid horizontally against a smooth gray background, featuring a sheer mesh upper section dotted with a scattered pattern of small floral motifs and tiny raised loops, a lower decorative band of interconnected circular and looped designs forming a scalloped edge, and fine threadwork with subtle irregularities and loose fibers visible along the top and bottom edges.
