Above the edge ornament, against a netting background, regular projections alternate: a twig and a round point. 18th–19th century, France. Materials: lace, fabric. Width 8.5 cm; length 408 cm., A length of delicate lace ribbon arranged in a zigzag pattern across a flat background, the ribbon appearing sheer and pale with a repeating floral eyelet motif and a scalloped decorative edge; the lace shows intricate openwork with small embroidered floral clusters and a chain-like border, and the ribbon lies with soft folds and slight overlaps creating subtle shadows; visible colors include off-white or cream for the lace and a muted gray for the background.
