Lower edge with fine serrations, upper straight with braid. 17th–18th century, Venice; lace; length 61 cm, width 5 cm., A narrow vertical strip of intricate lace runs down the center of the image against a large dark rectangular background, with the lace appearing in a light beige color and the background in a deep charcoal or dark gray; the lace shows a delicate openwork pattern of looping floral and circular motifs and a slightly scalloped outer edge, and a pale off-white border frames the entire composition at the top and bottom.
