Dalmatic, origin, 18th century, France; liturgical vestment fabric decorated with flowers, leaves, and plant ornaments; used as church parament for churches and chapels; length 101.5 cm, width 92 cm back., A flat garment laid out against a light background, showing a T-shaped silhouette with short wide sleeves and a slightly flared lower section; the main fabric is a pale cream color with an overall pattern of floral clusters in shades of green, pink, and muted red, accompanied by greyish floral or urn-like motifs; there are several vertical bands of a shimmering silver fabric running down the front; the edges and sleeve hems are finished with a metallic gold trim that has a textured, embroidered appearance; the fabric shows subtle horizontal ribbing and slight irregularities in sheen where the light hits it.
