Fabric fragment, 18th-century silk fabric fragment with metal threads; patterned floral broché in Gros de Tours liséré. Background: simple weave with rep structure and subreport-lisére; brocading in pale and dark blue, several shades of sea blue, celadon, white, pale paint green, light and dark pink, apple green, grass green; silver braided thread and silver lamella. Design: vertically rising, symmetrically branching column of branches with various roses and cornflowers, with silver leaves between branches. Zonal brocade, grosgrain background and fine liséré patterns suggest English influence characteristic of the 1740s. Date: 2nd half of the 18th century; place of origin: France. Dimensions: height 114 cm, width 25 cm., A long horizontal strip of fabric with a light beige background features a repeating pattern of roughly vertical textured clusters in shades of red, blue, gray, and green, connected by faint outlined leaf-like shapes in a darker neutral color; there are small scattered leafy elements in green and touches of orange near the edges, and the fabric edges appear slightly frayed with darker background visible above and below the strip.
