Embroidered parura with two angels in flight holding between them a scarf with the image of a crown of thorns; on the sides a border of strongly wavy clouds. Colors: gold, green, and pink in several tones, blue, burgundy, navy blue. Upper part: remnants of silk fabric brocaded with floral motifs 18th century. Embroidery on linen canvas: laid stitch of gold thread sewn over with red silk thread in a braided motif background, split stitch with silk thread figures, scarf, point d'orient with silk thread clouds. 1st half of the 16th century, Netherlands; liturgical vestment, embroidery; height 7 cm, width 28 cm., A rectangular embroidered textile fragment with a curved top edge showing a group of figures and decorative motifs, rendered in shades of yellow, green, beige, brown, blue, pink, white, black, and grey; the top section has a bright yellow fabric with green leaflike patterns and pale pink floral shapes, while the lower central embroidered band features two reclining figures facing each other, one in pale beige and pink tones and the other in yellow and green tones, each with visible faces and hands, holding a central white panel bordered in black that contains a circular wreath motif stitched in green and pale gold; the embroidered field around the figures is filled with textured brown and tan thread, flanked on either side by stacked scalloped shapes in cream, blue, and pale pink against darker vertical backgrounds, with narrow decorative borders above and below incorporating gold and brown threads and a coarse off-white fabric backing visible at the edges.
