Plant and floral-and-fruit design in a naturalistic style attributed to the influence of French designer Jean Revel; strong chiaroscuro modeling and three-dimensional effect enhanced by abundant silver thread. Background: cannelé 3 coups with an effect described as poil traînant; pattern brocaded with threads tied with a weft weave in light and dark green, yellow, salmon and raspberry pinks, white, silver braided thread, and dark brown/black. Weave: Gros de Tours a effet poil traînant, liseré, broché à liege repris brocade with intercepted broaching threads, type 3. Stiff silk with a grosgrain structure and three-dimensional brocade pattern typical of Lyon silk weaving; pattern type appears from the 1730s and was used for representative court dress Robe à la française.
