Women's umbrella made of white lace. Its canopy is trimmed with cream silk at the bottom, which conceals the metal structure and, when unfolded, provides a backdrop for the lace covering. The bone handle is carved with floral motifs and folds in half. c. 1850–1875, France. Length 66 cm; diameter 57 cm., An opened parasol displayed from beneath with a scalloped lace canopy in cream and off-white tones, featuring floral and geometric lace patterns and a sheer fabric underlayer; a central slender shaft in black and cream extends downward with a carved cream handle at the end; supporting ribs in black radiate from the shaft; the background is a smooth medium gray.
