Women's umbrella made of white lace. Its canopy is trimmed with cream silk at the bottom, which conceals the metal structure and, when unfolded, provides a backdrop for the lace covering. The bone handle is carved with floral motifs and folds in half. c. 1850–1875, France. Length 66 cm; diameter 57 cm., An ornate lace parasol shown from above with a scalloped edge and intricate floral lace overlay in cream and ivory tones, a central decorative finial topped with a small ribbon in matching cream, delicate sheer mesh panels embroidered with floral motifs and tiny dotted textures, a tied bow near the handle in cream, and a slim dark handle partially visible beneath the canopy against a neutral gray background.
