Travel armchair, travel, volutes, floral decoration, Baroque, travel armchair of the late Baroque type, carved, gilded, with a high, flat backrest, on cabriole legs that arc into the wavy-cut frame at the bottom, and with S-shaped armrests and their supports ending in a common volute. Trapezoidal seat and backrest cushions, reupholstered in red damask imitating large-scale Baroque fabrics. The backrest upholstery is recessed and removable after removing the upper frame, which is mounted on steel pins and decorated with acanthus leaves, a checkered pattern, and a cartouche filled with an acanthus finial. The frame is decorated with palmettes and rosettes impressed in chalk-glue, and the legs are framed with a half-cylinder. The hinges connecting the front and rear frames are made of steel, primed and gilded on the outside. 1710–1725, Germany, piece of furniture, seating piece; height 175 cm, width 73 cm, depth 64 cm., A partially assembled ornate chair frame with a gilded finish stands against a smooth neutral gray background, showing a group of carved curved legs with scroll feet, decorative floral and foliate reliefs, and two tall vertical back supports rising from the armrests; the armrests curve outward into carved scrolls, and the seat area is open with visible internal wooden supports and metal fastenings, all surfaces exhibiting a bright gold color with darker golden shadows and subtle areas of wear that reveal a warmer brownish undertone.
