Travel armchair, late Baroque type, carved and gilded, with a high flat backrest, cabriole legs that arc into a wavy-cut bottom frame, S-shaped armrests with supports ending in a common volute. Trapezoidal seat and backrest cushions, reupholstered in red damask imitating large-scale Baroque fabrics. The backrest upholstery is recessed and removable after removing the upper frame, which is mounted on steel pins and decorated with acanthus leaves, a checkered pattern, and a cartouche filled with an acanthus finial. Frame decorated with palmettes and rosettes impressed in chalk-glue; legs framed with a half-cylinder. Hinges connecting front and rear frames are steel, primed and gilded on the outside. Travel function; carved wood, gilding, upholstery. Dated 1710–1725. Origin: Germany, Height 175 cm; width 73 cm; depth 64 cm., A gilded ornate chair frame with a high back structure stands against a neutral gray background; the frame has curving armrests and cabriole legs with carved scroll feet, all finished in bright gold with areas of darker patina, and a carved crest with symmetrical floral and foliate motifs at the back and on the apron, while some internal wooden supports and metal brackets are visible where upholstery would attach, showing natural brown wood and dark metal against the gold.
