Travel armchair, late Baroque type, carved and gilded, with a high flat backrest on cabriole legs that arc into a wavy-cut bottom frame; S-shaped armrests with supports ending in a common volute. Trapezoidal seat and backrest cushions reupholstered in red damask imitating large-scale Baroque fabrics. Recessed, removable backrest upholstery after removing the upper frame mounted on steel pins and decorated with acanthus leaves, a checkered pattern, and a cartouche filled with an acanthus finial. Frame decorated with palmettes and rosettes impressed in chalk-glue; legs framed with a half-cylinder. Hinges connecting front and rear frames of steel, primed and gilded on the outside. Travel, volutes, floral decoration; Baroque style. Made circa 1710–1725, Germany .
