Chair, Carved chair with a padded seat inserted cushion and a high backrest filled by an openwork central splat, supported by four cabriole legs — front legs more strongly curved and widened at the top, terminating in ball-and-claw feet; rear legs with slipper feet. Back frame slightly rounded; front frame concave in the center and wavy-cut at the bottom, like the knees of the legs, decorated with rocaille motifs. Central splat asymmetrical, with the outline of a vase formed by ribbon, embellished with acanthus leaves and flowers. Upper backrest frame consists of two channel-shaped sections and a carved shell, with small channel-shaped acanthus leaves on the sides. Ornamentation: animal paws, acanthus, shells, plant decoration, volutes. Dated 1745–1760, Netherlands. Seating furniture; height 109.3 cm, width 50 cm, depth 49.5 cm., A wooden chair with an ornate carved back featuring swirling and foliate motifs and a shell-like crest at the top, a padded seat upholstered in patterned fabric showing shades of red and gold, curved wooden legs with carved details and claw-like feet, and a wooden apron with carved floral ornamentation; visible colors include brown in the wood, red and gold in the upholstery, and a light gray background.
