Armchair, geometric ornaments, plant decoration. Armchair with a high rectangular backrest, equally narrow seat and full sides, supported by four angular legs, richly decorated with bas-relief geometric and stylized plant motifs. Framed back, framed on the sides by fluted pilasters, profiled at the bottom, topped with a semicircular top. The top is decorated in the center with a fan with convex wings framed on the sides by wavy corners. The seat and sides are boarded. The sides are arched, with boarded armrests rounded at the corners. Below the frame are decorative strips with geometric fields, wavy at the bottom; the front is suspended, openwork on the sides, and the sides are applied. A strip with a cord motif is applied to the front edge of the legs and sides. Ca. 1635, Netherlands, England, Western Europe. Furniture — seating piece. Height 160.5 cm; width 70.3 cm; depth 51.5 cm., A tall wooden chair with a high back and armrests, carved with decorative patterns including a semi-circular fan motif at the top, vertical fluting on the back panel, twisted rope-like detailing along the front edges, and carved apron panels beneath the seat; the wood shows a dark brown color with areas of lighter brown where worn, and a small lighter wooden support piece visible beneath the seat; the chair appears aged with some surface wear and rough edges, and the background is a pale neutral color.
