Travel dressing table, ebony cuboid with lifting lid and a front bottom drawer, richly inlaid with flowers and plant twigs in engraved bone set with black paint. Inside: a tilting mirror, five compartments on each side six with lids; mirror frame and lids inlaid with bone with plant and floral twigs. Three compartments in the drawer. Steel swan neck handles on the sides. Decorated with flowers and plant ornamentation in a Baroque style. Ca. 1750, Vizagapatam, India. Travel/hygiene furniture. Dimensions: H 17 cm, W 41 cm, D 30.5 cm., A rectangular wooden box with a hinged lid decorated with intricate floral and foliate patterns in contrasting light and dark tones; the box surface is predominantly black with ornate cream-colored floral designs covering the top, front, sides, and edges, forming borders and scattered blossoms and leaves. The front shows a recessed panel bordered by floral bands, and there are a few keyhole-shaped openings visible on the front face. The left side has a dark metal ring handle set into a circular metal plate. The overall palette includes black, cream, and dark metallic gray, and the box rests on a flat light-gray surface against a pale gray background.
