Armchair, wattle ornament, rosettes ornament, acanthus ornament, balusters, Baroque style. Armchair with a frame composed of simple, angular elements, with a seat and backrest upholstered in leather. The legs are held together by a box-like binding composed of narrow joins on the sides and wide geometric wattles on the front and back. Rectangular seat, upholstered on straps. The backrest is composed of side rails and a piece of thick leather nailed with headstocks in their upper section, above the armrests; tilted. The armrests are S-shaped, topped with volutes at the front, on turned supports in the form of a baluster, constituting, like the backrest rails, an extension of the legs. The volutes at the top of the backrest stiles are carved with acanthus leaves, while the outer and inner sides of the armrest volutes are decorated with rosettes. The frame elements are accentuated around the perimeter with a delicate groove, and their tenon joints are pegged. 1st half of the 17th century. Italy, / Spain, / Portugal . Piece of furniture, seating piece; height 114.5 cm, width 60 cm, depth 63.5 cm., A wooden chair with a dark brown seat and a medium brown frame is shown from the side against a pale gray background; the chair has curved armrests ending in carved circular floral motifs, a slightly reclined back with a leather or leather-like panel secured by round metal studs along the edges, turned vertical support beneath the armrest, straight front and rear legs connected by scalloped stretchers, and a smooth dark brown seat surface contrasted with the warmer brown tones of the wooden structure.
