Table, Neo-Baroque richly carved table with a rectangular mosaic top supported by four supports in the form of caryatids transforming into dolphins at the bottom, connected by an openwork frame. The frame on the long sides consists of an acanthus coat-of-arms cartouche held by a pair of mermaids; the side frames comprise an acanthus cartouche and an acanthus twig with flowers. Putti in loincloths sit on the dolphins that serve as the feet of the legs. Nude female figures, with corals around their necks, support the tabletop with their right hands and rest their left hands on their hips. The mosaic is set into the tabletop with a profiled carved border a braid with a plant twig; the figurative scene is framed by a wide border with a meander. On the left, a woman kneels on her left knee holding a branch in her left hand; on the right, a man in a tunic raises his right hand and holds a spear in his left. The composition is decorated in shades of gray, blue, and beige with brown. The foot and edge of the tabletop are stained dark brown and polished. 1840–1860, Italy, piece of furniture. Dimensions: height 74.3 cm; width 137.5 cm; depth 75 cm., A rectangular framed mosaic panel depicting a scene with two human figures set against a pale background, bordered by a patterned band and an outer carved wooden frame; the mosaic shows a standing person dressed in reddish and ochre garments holding a curved object and gesturing with one arm, and another person leaning forward on a raised area of ground wearing brownish-yellow clothing; there are a few tree branches with green leaves extending into the scene and some small green plants near the ground; colors visible include beige and cream for the background, brown and dark brown for the branches and carved frame, green in the border and foliage, reddish and maroon tones in the patterned band and clothing, ochre and yellow in garments, and touches of black and gray in the outer frame and accents.
