Pipe stand, origin unknown, smoking, pipes, acorns, rack for pipes and billiard cubes. Skeletal structure composed of two pairs of spool-turned columns on angular plinths, mounted on a narrow rectangular platform, supporting cuboid drawer bodies connected mid-height and at the top by horizontally arranged slats with semicircular cutouts on the front. Platform rests on four turned legs with a high straight rim, with glued-on wavy-cut slats for holding billiard cues or long pipes, and a single groove at the back probably originally from installation. Upper panel decorated with a gallery in the form of an arched crenellation reverse arcading topped with acorns. Drawer bodies probably intended for balls are surrounded by a low slatted gallery. 1830–1840, Central Europe. Furniture/equipment. Height 111.5 cm, width 89 cm, depth 29 cm., The image shows a wooden freestanding rack with a warm brown finish against a neutral grey background; it has two tall turned vertical posts with a series of rounded bulbous segments, a rectangular base with short round feet, and a top rail featuring a scalloped crest with a row of small finials and square blocks at either end, plus a middle horizontal shelf with a carved edge.
