Stool with board seat, cushion attached, and openwork carved backrest; supported by four baluster legs splayed outwards. Backrest formed by a pair of connected acanthus volutes creating a heart-shaped opening. Seat trapezoidal with slightly concave sides and rounded corners. Cushion padded with horsehair and covered with sheared velvet, trimmed with fringe at the bottom. 3rd quarter of the 19th century, Southern Germany, Central Europe. Piece of furniture seating. Height 102 cm; width 49 cm; depth 42 cm., An ornate wooden chair with a dark brown carved backrest featuring scrolling, leaf-like motifs and a central open heart-shaped cutout, a worn upholstered seat covered in faded fabrics showing patches of red, green, and tan with frayed edges and hanging greenish fringe, and turned dark brown legs with rounded, bulbous shapes set against a neutral gray background.
