Gondola, Kolbinski, Jan Nepomucen 1820-post 1877, carpenter; neo-Empire style; GONDOLKA in the Empire style, on angular, arched legs flowing into openwork stiles of channel-shaped sides turned outward and ending in a volte, with a padded rectangular seat. The frame is stained black and polished. The side leg joints and armrests are spool-turned; the front and rear joints are arched slats forming a pointed arch. The frame is flanked at the bottom, widening in the long middle section, in the outline of a flat triangle pointing downwards. Seat upholstery on straps, padded with grass, upholstered with silk-cotton jacquard fabric with palmettes arranged in a net pattern red plain weave background; patterns created with protruding threads with metal braiding, finished with narrow galloon with metal braiding thread. 1877, Warsaw. Furniture; seating furniture. Height 49.4 cm; width 57 cm; depth 43 cm., A small upholstered stool with a rectangular cushioned seat covered in deep red fabric showing subtle linear texture, set on a dark wood frame that is nearly black. The frame has curved legs that arch inward and connect with rounded, turned stretchers with a beaded appearance in the same dark color, and the arm supports curve upward at the corners with turned horizontal grips. The background is a pale light gray.
