Kneeler, provenance unknown. Depicts Mary Magdalene Bible, Noli me tangere iconography, Jesus Christ Bible; used for prayer; Baroque style with ribbon ornament. Oak kneeler with a cuboid cabinet in the breastwork, hinged lid of the box base and a diagonally inclined lectern at the top; inlaid with plant motifs and genre scenes. Cabinet closed with double-leaf framed doors with panels attached at the back. Sides of the body, door, lid, and desk decorated with single fields repeating their outline, edged with veining and filled with inlaid motifs on a dark walnut background — on the doors a gardener by a rose bush, on the lid and desk wide O-shaped bands of acanthus leaves, and on the sides campanulas. One shelf inside the cabinet. Steel single-bolt applied door lock; brass French separable door hinges; steel lock plates in the form of a pointed oval; steel, slate-finished lid and desk hinges; door latch with a bolt attached to the left wing and a spring catch attached to the shelf. Dated 1730–1750, Brandenburg, Germany. Furniture. H. 85.8 cm; W. 92.3 cm; D. 62.5 cm., A wooden cabinet with a warm brown finish stands on rounded bun feet, shown with its top section open and its two front doors ajar to reveal an interior shelf. The cabinet has darker and lighter brown wood grain visible across its panels, with inlaid decorative panels on the doors and top surface showing floral and figural motifs in lighter wood tones. Metal hardware including hinges and a keyhole are visible on the doors and front, and the interior appears darker brown compared with the exterior. The background is a smooth, light gray.
