Armchair, maker, upholstery attributed to/to designs by Jean-Baptiste Oudry 1686–1755 and/or after illustrations for Jean de La Fontaine's fairy tales Jean de La Fontaine, 1621–1695. Decor: flowers, vultures, wolves, birds including pigeons, wells, other animals; Rococo ornamentation and shells; cabriole legs. 3rd quarter of the 18th century, France Aubusson and/or Beauvais upholstery. Seating piece of furniture; height 107.3 cm, width 76.8 cm, depth 77.5 cm., An upholstered chair seat and part of its arms are visible, showing a woven fabric with an ornate scene and floral borders; the fabric displays muted tones of beige, cream, pink, green, blue, and gold, with a central pastoral image that includes an animal near a well and surrounding foliage, and the armrests feature gilded carved wood with brass or bronze nailhead trim and floral-patterned fabric covers in matching colors.
