Chair, origin unknown, Rococo style, volutes, plant decoration, acanthus, shells, female figures, flowers, ribbon-and-pincer ornament. Rococo chair with a boarded inlaid backrest a lady in a crinoline surrounded by flowers, a rectangular originally upholstered seat, supported by cabriole legs. Legs decorated in bas-relief with motifs at the top, including shells on the knees, terminating in volute feet. Frame wavy-cut at the bottom, decorated with acanthus leaves. Seat frame with a wavy outer outline enclosing a padded central section. High backrest with a clearance, angular stiles, and a wavy-curved upper section. Inlaid representation on the backrest framed by two intertwining U-shaped ribbons. Ca. 1750–1765, Germany. Piece of furniture, seating piece. Height 115 cm, width 53 cm, depth 63 cm., A wooden chair shown in profile with a tall slanted backrest and a flat seat topped by a padded cushion, all in shades of brown; the backrest and seat frame display carved decorative details, and the chair stands on a group of curved cabriole legs ending in curled feet, also showing carved ornamentation; the background is a smooth gradient of gray.
