Chair, origin unknown, Rococo style, ca. 1750–1765, Germany. Rococo chair with boarded inlaid backrest depicting a lady in a crinoline surrounded by flowers; rectangular originally upholstered seat supported by cabriole legs. Legs decorated in bas-relief with motifs at the top, including shells on the knees, terminating in volute feet. Frame wavy-cut at the bottom, decorated with acanthus leaves. Seat frame with a wavy outer outline enclosing a padded central section. High backrest with clearance, angular stiles, and a wavy-curved upper section. Inlaid representation on the backrest framed by two intertwining U-shaped ribbons. Ornament: volutes, plant decoration, acanthus, shells, female figures, flowers, ribbon-and-pincer. Furniture type: seating piece. Dimensions: height 115 cm, width 53 cm, depth 63 cm., A wooden chair shown from the back with a tall curved backrest and a slightly padded seat, both in shades of brown; the chair frame and cabriole legs are medium to dark brown wood with visible grain and a polished finish, and the small curled foot details are the same brown; the background is a smooth light gray, and the floor area appears a pale gray.
