Sofa, origin unknown, Biedermeier, epergne ornament, classicism. Arched outer legs, straight middle ones with a groove. Backrest with two horizontal slats, upper one wider. Openwork sides composed of a motif of four kidneys separated by arched muntin bars. Backrest and side cushions overlaid, inset seat. 1815–1825, Central Europe. Piece of furniture seating, H 81 cm, W 157 cm, D 74.9 cm., A wooden upholstered bench or settee shown from an angled side view with a carved wood frame featuring oval cutouts filled with patterned fabric; the wood is a warm brown with visible grain and some wear at edges. The upholstery fabric has a floral and striped pattern in soft colors including green, cream, pink, and pale blue. The seat cushion and backrest are covered in the same patterned fabric, and a narrow upholstered panel runs along the lower front. The carved wood details include radial rosette motifs and elongated cut shapes. The floor or background appears pale gray.
