Chest, provenance unknown, plant decoration, rocaille ornament, rococo ornament, monograms, baroque style, crowns; dowry chest with a convex lid, side walls slightly tapering toward the bottom, richly decorated with openwork repoussé fittings with plant motifs, elements of rocaille and stylized acanthus. On the front of the lid, on the axis, an openwork plate with a rococo cartouche containing the date and initials 17 DEG 73. On the sides of the lid are two decoratively designed strap hinges extending into the decoration of the front wall, where the fittings create a horizontal composition composed of five asymmetrical cartouches, decreasing toward the sides. Side edges of the lid are edged with openwork bands; analogous applications in the corners of the body. The side walls feature large openwork plates. Lid boards joined with tongue-and-groove joints. 2nd half of the 18th century 1773?, Central Europe; piece of furniture, storage unit. Dimensions: height 69.7 cm, width 129.4 cm, depth 63.5 cm., A dark brown wooden chest with a domed lid sits against a pale gray background, decorated with several ornate dark metal appliques and a large central metal lock plate; the chest shows visible wood grain and aged texture, with darker brown and almost black metalwork in flowing, floral-like patterns, and a dark metal ring handle on one end.
