Casket, cuboid case inlaid with figural scenes and openwork brass fittings. Front shows a deer hunt with dogs; lid has an oval field depicting a sleigh drawn by a deer. Interior: under the chamber floor are three drawers middle smaller accessible after folding down the front wall. Lid contains a compartment closed with a plate on brass hinges. Fittings cut from thick brass sheet on lid edges and body corners. Bottom and back wall fastened with strap hinges with decorative openwork finials visible from back of lid and at bottom of front wall. Mortice-type lock with two catches mounted on bottom of lid. Baroque style, 1720–1740, Germany. Furniture — storage furniture. Dimensions: H 21.6 cm, W 42.5 cm, D 27.4 cm., A wooden chest with its lid open sits on a flat surface, showing a rectangular interior and paneled inner lid. The chest is various shades of brown with darker and lighter wood grain, and it has several decorative metal fittings in a yellowish metallic color on the lid, front, and sides. The front panel displays carved or inlaid scenes in darker brown tones, and the lid interior features geometric wood panels in contrasting brown shades framed by lighter wood. The metal fittings include ornate escutcheon-like pieces and handles, and the hinges and supporting straps are visible along the back edge. The background and surface are a neutral light gray.
