Casket, Repossession provenance. Sleigh, deer, hunters, hounds, riders. Baroque style. Cuboid case inlaid with figural scenes, with openwork brass fittings. Front wall of the body shows a deer hunt with dogs; lid has an oval field depicting a sleigh drawn by a deer. Interior: under the chamber floor are three drawers middle one smaller accessible after folding down the front wall. Lid contains a compartment closed with a plate on brass hinges. Fittings cut from thick brass sheet on lid edges and body corners. Bottom and back wall fastened with strap hinges with decorative openwork finials visible from back of lid and at bottom of front wall. Mortice-type lock with two catches mounted on bottom of lid. Date: 1720–1740. Place of origin: Germany. Furniture; storage furniture. Dimensions: height 21.6 cm, width 42.5 cm, depth 27.4 cm., A wooden box with a rectangular shape and a hinged lid, featuring a decorative metal plate at the center of the front and metal corner fittings; the front panel shows an inlaid scene with a reclining stag and a tree on a burled wood background in warm brown and golden-yellow tones, with reddish-brown framing and brass-colored decorative metalwork, and a small pale rectangular patch on the top right of the lid.
