Cuboid carved chest supported by four low legs, front ones shaped as lion's paws, rear ones angular. Front with an applied profiled frame enclosing a pseudo-panel carved with grotesque elements on a grained background: central section with two winged genii merging at the bottom into an acanthus twig, holding a laurel wreath above a scrollwork cartouche framing the lock; between the volutes, twigs, snakes and griffins. Herms at the front corners. Prominent plinth molding symmetrically decorated with gadroons. Straight side walls, originally with doorknobs. Interior on the left side of the cabinets. Hinges and lock striker of tinned, engraved steel. Circa mid-16th century, Italy. Piece of furniture, storage unit. Height 54.5 cm, width 165.2 cm, depth 57 cm., The image shows a wooden piece of furniture photographed from the side, with a brown wood finish and visible grain. The top edge has carved detailing with darker brown worn areas, and the main panel is a medium brown with two darker circular marks. The frame around the panel is a slightly darker brown, and the lower molding features carved, rounded fluting with darker brown wear and chips. A carved claw-like foot in dark brown is visible at the front left, while a plain rectangular support in a lighter brown sits at the rear right. The background is a smooth gray-beige.
