Cameo with a portrait of Bona Sforza d'Aragona 1494–1557, wife of Sigismund I the Old. Portrait of a young woman in 3/4 length with her head turned slightly to the right and her gaze directed at the viewer, wearing a veil covering her shoulders, a dress with a square neckline, flat bodice, belt, pleated skirt and narrow sleeves decorated at the top with a roller; right hand at belt height, left hand lowered, revealing the veil. Portrait of Bona Sforza d'Aragona, based on a miniature, dated 1518 subject, 2nd half of the 19th century. Italy, Torre del Greco. Gemma, bas-relief; height 5.1 cm, width 4 cm. Made by Gaetano Bianchini Florence; glyptic and merchant firm; fl. ca. 1850–1900., A carved relief of a woman set against an amber background, with the figure rendered in white and ivory tones; she has long hair draped over her shoulders and wears a detailed bodice and flowing sleeves with textured patterns, and a beaded necklace around her neck; her hands are visible, one resting near her waist and the other alongside her skirt; the piece is framed by a thin white border and the overall shape is slightly curved and irregular.
