Plaque with a depiction of the Duke of Champagne and the Bishop of Beauvais, Nouailher, Colin fl. ca 1550, Beauvais France, painted enamel, Rectangular, standing, with a depiction of the bishop in a miter, with a crosier, in a blue pluvial, at the feet a coat of arms with a white cross, with four keys between the arms. On the sides in gold LEVESQUESDE and on the other BEAVVAS. On three sides near the edge on a white background there is an inscription: MOY:CONTE.EVESQVE.DE.BEAVVAIS.ME / D..OY . AVSACRE.TRAN..SPRTER / POVR DEMONSTRE.LACOTTE.DARME.PORTER. Originally eight plaques mounted in a wooden box, ca. mid-16th century, France, Limoges, plaque, height 15.9 cm, width 10.8 cm, An oval-shaped painted plaque with a decorative border shows a robed figure holding an infant; the robed figure wears a brown garment and has a halo of radiating lines, and the infant is pale with a surrounding halo and is wrapped in a white cloth. The scene is set against a dark background with hints of blue, and a white lily appears near the figures. The ornate border around the oval is metallic gold and white with areas of wear and brownish damage at the edges. An open book with white pages rests at the base of the robed figure. The visible colors include brown, white, gold, black, blue, and pale skin tones.
