Below is the inscription S IGNATIUS DE LOIOLA II. 4th quarter of the 17th century, Limoges, France. Height 10 cm, width 8 cm. Maker: Jacques Laudin ca. 1663/8–1729, enameller., A painted oval portrait on a rectangular panel shows a bearded older man with pale skin and gray hair wearing a richly patterned red and white robe and a white garment underneath, holding an open book with visible pages; a golden halo with radiating lines surrounds his head and a flaming red and yellow shape appears near the top left of the oval; the background inside the oval is black, and the surrounding frame area is dark brown with decorative silver-colored corner embellishments and a white border; colors visible include red, white, black, gold, silver, pale skin tones, gray, brown, and yellow.
