Mantel clock by Alexandre Pertrand fl. ca. 1840. Four-column portico form on a cuboid base and counter-base; boxwood inlays on the front of the cornice and base with a rhombus rosette and tendril on both sides; gilded bronze bases and capitals. Suspended movement with a silver dial bearing Roman numerals and two keyholes hangs between the columns. Gilded bronze frame with shells surrounds the clock. Oak construction with rosewood facing and light wood insets. Ca. 1840, Paris, France. Timepiece; height 47 cm, width 21 cm., The image shows a tall, narrow wooden structure with a rectangular top piece in dark brown wood framed by lighter brown edges and a slightly overhanging shelf in a warm golden-brown tone, supported by a pair of cylindrical columns in richly grained dark brown wood with lighter streaks; the tops of the columns have ornate gold-colored capitals with decorative motifs and a gold-colored mechanical assembly is visible between the columns; the background is a plain light gray.
