Mantel clock by Alexandre Pertrand fl. ca. 1840. Four-column portico form on a cuboid base and counter-base; boxwood inlays on the front of the cornice and base with a rhombus rosette and tendril on both styrons; gilded bronze bases and capitals. Suspended movement with a silver dial with Roman numerals and two keyholes hangs between the columns. Gilded bronze frame with shells surrounds the clock. Oak construction with rosewood facing and light wood insets. Ca. 1840, Paris, France. Timepiece; height 47 cm, width 21 cm., A freestanding wooden structure with a rectangular stepped base and a matching rectangular top supported by a group of tall, round columns; the columns have polished dark brown wood shafts with lighter brown wood grain and gilded capitals and bases, and there are gilded metal elements and a visible round mechanical component suspended between the columns; the wooden base and top show banded inlay in lighter brown tones, and the overall color palette includes dark brown, light brown, gold, and a pale neutral background.
