Mantel clock by Alexandre Pertrand fl. ca. 1840. Mantel clock in the form of a four-column portico on a cuboid base and counter-base; boxwood inlays on the front of the cornice and base, with a rhombus rosette and a tendril on both stylons; gilded bronze bases and capitals. A suspended movement with a silver dial with Roman numerals and two keyholes hangs between the columns. A gilded bronze frame with shells surrounds the clock. Oak construction with rosewood facing and light wood insets. Ca. 1840, Paris, France. Timepiece; height 47 cm, width 21 cm., The image shows an ornate pedestal clock with a rectangular wooden top and base connected by a group of four tall cylindrical columns. The wood has dark brown tones with lighter brown inlay and decorative floral marquetry on the top and base. The columns are topped and footed with gilded metal collars and mounts in a yellow-gold color. A round clock face is suspended between the columns, surrounded by an elaborate yellow-gold ornamental frame with a textured leaf-like pattern; the clock face itself appears in a silver-gray tone. The background is a plain light gray.
