Equatorial sundial by Andreas Vogler ca. 1730–1800. Augsburg-type circular sundial with a wavy edge. Inside the case: a compass with a hinged hour circle and an arched hinged arm marked with geographical latitudes. Engraved decoration on the rim with C-shaped sections and stylized acanthus leaves. Underside of the compass case engraved: Eleva. Poli. / Corfu 39 Lyon 45 /' Berlinn 53 Cadiv 36 / Lisabon 39 Paris 48 / Colln 521 Reval 61. Dated to the 3rd quarter of the 18th century, Germany Augsburg. Measuring instrument., A small circular metallic object with ornate scalloped edges in gold color sits against a smooth gray background; the object has intricate engraved patterns and a hinged clasp, a glass-covered circular face showing a star-shaped design and a central needle, a thin horizontal bar crossing the face, and a curved engraved plate partially covering one side.
