Thimble by James Fenton Birmingham goldsmiths' firm, fl. 1852–1954. Conical silver thimble with a smooth lower edge; upper surface covered with relief decoration of swirling rosettes. Ornament: rosette scrap-purchase. Function: sewing accessory. Dated 1893–1894, Birmingham, England. Height 2.2 cm; diameter 1.5 cm; weight 49 g., A metallic thimble with an embossed floral swirl pattern covering its rounded body, showing a shiny silver color with darker tarnished areas in the recessed parts of the pattern and a smooth silver band at the base, set against a light gray background.
