Single-candle candlestick by Martin Goldstein fl. 1878–1886 and the firm Vander, C.J., Ltd. London; goldsmith's firm, est. 1856. Neo-Baroque style; silver. Supported on three shells and a three-sided raised base with side edges composed of volutes, richly decorated with floral tendrils and plain medallions. Baluster shaft with bottom enclosed in a godron half-cylinder, decorated with floral festoons above, topped with a plate-shaped profiled element and a cylindrical sleeve. Ornamentation includes medallion, volutes, floral and godron ornaments. Dated 1884/1885, London, England. Function: lighting. Height 24 cm; width 13.6 cm; depth 13.6 cm; weight 852 g., A single ornate candlestick stands against a plain light background, made of a shiny metallic material with silver and gray tones; the candlestick has a flared holder at the top with decorative banding and a scalloped drip plate beneath it, a smooth tapered central column that transitions into a rounded midsection embellished with raised floral motifs, and a wide, heavily ornamented base with swirling acanthus-like designs and an oval cartouche flanked by carved scrolls, resting on shell-shaped feet.
