Platter in the form of a full-plastic scallop shell, knotted and ribbed, decorated on the rim with a motif of relief flowers and leaves and channel sections; supported on three shell feet. Silver. Maker: Atkin Brothers Silversmith Ltd Sheffield, c. 1890–1891. Dimensions: height 2.5 cm; width 15.3 cm; depth 13.1 cm; weight 113 g., A decorative scallop-shaped object with a metallic silver surface, showing a symmetrical fan of ridged segments radiating from a rounded end; each segment has ornate punched and embossed patterns with scalloped edges and tear-drop motifs, and there are a few raised cone-like studs along the ridges. The colors visible are primarily silver with areas of darker gray patina and subtle shadows against a light gray background.
