Shell-shaped silver platter by Atkin Brothers Silversmith Ltd Sheffield; goldsmith and silversmith firm; 1826–1958, 1893–1894. Scallop-shaped vessel terminating on one side with an oval narrow handle and radial clasp; decorated on the rim with relief floral ornament, volutes and acanthus scrolls; supported on three shell feet. Floral ornaments; acanthus leaves; relief decorations. Height 5 cm, depth 23 cm, width 28.5 cm, alternate width 10 cm, weight 357 g., A decorative shell-shaped metal dish with ornate raised floral and scrollwork detailing and a highly reflective silver surface, showing a few smooth, curved ridges radiating from the center and several scalloped edges, photographed against a plain white background with visible highlights and reflections.
