Silver platter in the shape of a scallop shell, terminating on one side with an oval narrow handle, radial clasp; rim decorated with relief floral ornament, volutes and acanthus scrolls; supported on three shell feet. Floral ornaments; acanthus leaves; scallop shape. Vessel. Height 5 cm; width handle? 10 cm; length 28.5 cm; depth 23 cm; weight 357 g. England, Sheffield., A decorative silver shell-shaped dish with a shiny metallic surface and ornate embossed floral and scrollwork patterns along the scalloped rim and the inner curved sections, showing a series of radiating ridges and grooves that follow the shell form; the metal reflects light creating areas of bright highlights and darker gray reflections, and the overall colors visible are silver and shades of gray against a white background.
