Pocket watch by John Bushman 1692–1720, c. 1700. Silver pocket watch in three cases: outer leather-covered case with studded silver rosettes on the rim; plain middle and inner cases. Underside of inner case engraved with casemaker's initial H and number 3081. Transparent lid. Silver champlevé dial with Roman hour numerals and Arabic minute markers in oval reserves on a matte background; central circular reserve with the watchmaker's signature on two semicircular plates reading BUSHMAN and LONDON; date window at the bottom. Steel hands with openwork hour hand. Movement with plate skeleton, spring drive, worm gear, and Gall chain; spindle escapement. Gilded lower plate with openwork English-style bun in the form of a wreath filled with acanthus tendrils and an openwork grid, connected by a mascaron mask with an openwork bun foot. Hair adjustment is a rotating silver-plated dial numbered I–VI. Plate engraved in italics: Jn Bushman 3081 / LONDON. Timepiece from London, England. Dimensions: height 6.5 cm, width 6 cm, dial diameter 4.5 cm; weight 125 g., A circular metal pocket watch with a round loop at the top, showing a metallic silver outer case and a glass-covered dial. The dial displays concentric rings with raised segments and a central hub, all in shades of grey and silver, and darker grey markings around the rings. Two thin watch hands in a darker bluish-grey color extend from the center. The watch case shows a slightly tarnished silver finish with subtle patina and small scuffs, and the glass has a clear, slightly reflective surface. The overall background is a very light grey.
