Pocket watch by John Bushman 1692–1720. Silver pocket watch in three cases: outer case covered with leather, rim decorated with studded silver rosettes; middle and inner cases plain. Underside of inner case stamped with casemaker's initial H and number 3081. Transparent lid. Silver champlevé dial with Roman numeral hour markers and Arabic minute markers in oval reserves on a matte background; central circular reserve with the watchmaker's signature on two semicircular plates reading BUSHMAN and LONDON; date window at the bottom. Steel hands with openwork hour hand. Movement with plate skeleton, spring drive, worm gear, and Gall chain; spindle escapement. Gilded lower plate with an openwork English-style bun in the form of a wreath filled with acanthus tendrils and an openwork grid, connected by a mascaron mask with an openwork bun foot. Hair adjustment is a rotating silver-plated dial with scale I–VI. Engraved on the plate in italics: Jn Bushman 3081 / LONDON. Circa 1700, London, England. Timepiece; height 6.5 cm, width 6 cm, dial diameter 4.5 cm, weight 125 g., A round, dark brown textured object with a weathered surface and a small metallic circular detail near its center, topped by a silver ring attachment; the object shows a few small silver rivets and fittings around its edge and subtle variations in brown tones with hints of black and gray, set against a pale light gray background.
