Pocket watch by Jacques Marcet fl. ca. 1725–ca. 1750. Gilded silver, almost spherical, double case; enameled numerals on the dial. Cases decorated with plant motifs: inner case with flowers in a vase in a reserve formed by a ribbon that on the outer side forms heart-shaped loops with floral sprigs between them; side strip of plant-floral tendrils; outer case with a flower sprig in a circular central reserve surrounded by an interwoven ribbon and floral sprigs in the fields. Movement bears an openwork bow and the Jacques/Marcet signature. Inside both cases is the number E. 4 unidentified. Engraved case decoration is stylized in a Middle Eastern manner—possibly intended for the Turkish market.
