Outer case with a flower sprig in a circular central reserve surrounded by an interwoven ribbon and floral sprigs in the fields. Movement with an openwork bow and Jacques/Marcet signature. Inside both cases the number E. 4 unidentified. Engraved case decoration stylized in a Middle Eastern manner—possibly intended for the Turkish market. No firm information about the watchmaker; he may have worked in England if a Huguenot. 2nd quarter of the 18th century; possibly France. Timepiece; H 6.5 cm, W 5.5 cm, D 4 cm., A round pocket watch sits against a light gray background, its metal case showing a tarnished gold color with darker patina around the edges; the watch face has an ornate central design with engraved swirls in a similar gold tone, surrounded by a ring with darker markings and contrasting black details; the hands are dark, appearing almost black or deep blue, and a small ornate winding crown with metallic gold and darker accents projects from the top; the glass over the face reflects light, creating a pale white glare.
